This is a one-year fixed-term contract which may be extended to 3 years (funded by SNF). The Pharmacology Unit of the Faculty of Science and Medicine at the University of Fribourg investigates molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying metabolic and redox signaling in health and disease. The Zuhra Group focuses on the biology of endogenously produced cyanide, exploring its role as a novel gasotransmitter and its impact on cellular metabolism and cell signaling.

Tasks

  • Support research activities in the Pharmacology Unit
  • Perform basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques such as solution preparation, measuring pH, Western blots, and cell culture
  • Work with in vivo models (mice, rats)
  • Potentially work with confocal imaging and cellular bioenergetics

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of proven work experience with basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques
  • Diploma (CFC / BSc or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related field
  • Experience in cancer research is considered a plus
  • Experience with or strong motivation to work with confocal imaging and cellular bioenergetics is considered a plus
  • Experience with in vivo models (mice, rats)
  • FELASA accreditation category B (EU functions A, C, D) or Swiss equivalent (Module1/LTK1) required
  • Strong sense of organization, precision, and reliability
  • Good written and spoken English skills
  • Knowledge of French or German is an advantage
