As a Strategy & Business Development Intern at ABB in Switzerland, you will join the global strategy and business development team within ABB's Electrification Service division. This hands-on role focuses on supporting strategy development, identifying inorganic growth opportunities, and conducting deal sourcing for venture capital investments, mergers, and strategic partnerships. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders, synthesise insights, and prepare high-quality analyses and presentations for leadership. The position offers real exposure to business strategy, M&A, and investment analysis in a dynamic, international environment. Tasks

  • Support strategy development by conducting horizon scanning, trend analysis, and opportunity identification in electrification and energy transition.
  • Synthesise insights into strategic priorities and recommendations, and contribute to global initiatives and business cases.
  • Take ownership of sourcing and screening inorganic growth opportunities, including M&A targets, venture capital investments, and strategic partnerships, and build and maintain a structured deal pipeline.
  • Conduct analysis of potential targets covering market positioning, technology differentiation, financial profile, and strategic fit.
  • Develop detailed target profiles, business cases, and investment briefs for senior management and investment committees.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support due diligence in coordination with finance, legal, and business teams.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to synthesise complex information into clear, structured output.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel, with experience in building financial models and presentations from scratch.
  • Genuine interest in strategy and business development, M&A, and venture capital.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, international team environment.
  • Prior internship or project experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or M&A is a plus.
